Why I Love Longboat Key

For 17 years, we have lived in a villa in Bay Isles, overlooking the Longboat Key Club Harbourside course.  Looking west over the golf course, we witness stunning sunsets year-round.  Bay Isles has approximately 1,500 residents, varying from condos to villas, to multi-million-dollar homes.  All residents have access to a private beach club, and the community has 2 manned guard gates.  It shares property with the Resort at Longboat Key Club, with 27 holes of golf, a clubhouse, a marina, 2 of the Club’s restaurants, and the Tennis gardens with 23 Har-Tru courts.  All of these club amenities are within walking distance from any home in the community, if one wishes to join the club.  Also within walking distance is the Publix supermarket, a CVS pharmacy, the Town library and Town Hall, and the Longboat Key post office.  Walking paths meander throughout the community, giving Bay Isles a very community-oriented feeling.

The island of Longboat Key has bicycle paths the entire 10 miles of the island, and wide sidewalks, making for a very active community.  And our collection of great restaurants is second to none.  We feel lucky to be a short drive to some of Sarasota’s most renowned cuisine, like Euphemia Haye, Harry’s, Maison Blance, Shore, Mar Vista, and for a casual, Surfer Vibe and Whitney’s.

There are many days we don’t even go off the island because we have everything we need for fun and social activities right on Longboat.

The St. Regis Hotel and condominiums have broken ground, and, when completed, Longboat Key will have the only 5 star resort on the west coast of Florida.

Beach walks, sunsets, convenience, and peaceful living is why I love living on Longboat Key.  It truly is paradise!
